| Description : |
About 3 miles NE of Tring, off B488 to Leighton Buzzard, 600 yds N of Ivinghoe parish church. Small, traditionally built watermill with a mansard roof, overshot waterwheel and two pairs of stones, retaining the atmosphere of the late 1800s. First recorded in 1781, but of an earlier date, it was in use until 1963. Now restored by Pitstone Local History Society, working with its original machinery. Mills flour occasionally. Unusual sheep wash in tailrace. |
